Carson is a generous man who will give everything he has
while on stage. He’s also done some fantastic things off stage. He’s been
across the ocean to Afghanistan to play for the troops and across the bridge to
donate his time and talents to local fundraisers. He will “wow” people at both
events, not just because of the way he attacks his well-worn Strat, but because
he will treat each event with a ton of respect and take time to talk to people
in the crowd before and after the show and give “them” an audience! He will
listen to their stories and relate to them and then he will say “Thank You” for
letting him play! He thanks you for letting him kick the blues in the ass,
throwing them to the floor, and stomping on them! Then later, he might drive
over them in Brady’s ’66 Impala on the way to the next gig! There will be no
time for crying about the Blues, instead Carson may ask you bear witness to the
healing powers of the electric guitar, and your slack jaw will gladly nod and
smile as cases of “toe tapping” break out all around you. It will be a fun ride
that you hope never ends.
So, combine the generous man and with the exceptional guitar player and you’ll smile to your self as you sit there catch one of Carson’s sets. You’ll smile because something will resonate with you. Something familiar and warm, for you see, when you do catch Carson playing, you temporarily become part of the Carson Downey Family. “Mysticssippi” blues man Harry Manx has been called an
“essential link” between the music of East and West, creating musical short
stories that wed the tradition of the Blues with the depth of classical Indian
ragas. He has created a unique sound that is hard to forget and deliciously
addictive to listen to. Harry forged his distinctive style by studying at the
feet of the masters, first as a sound man in the blues clubs of Toronto during
his formative years and then under a rigorous tutelage with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt
in India. Bhatt is the inventor of the 20-stringed Mohan Veena, which has
become Harry’s signature instrument.
Manx is a prolific artist, releasing 12 albums in a 12-year
span with no signs of stopping. He has received seven Maple Blues Awards, six
Juno nominations, the Canadian Folk Music Award in 2005 for Best Solo Artist
and won CBC Radio’s “Great Canadian Blues Award” in 2007.

blues fans who appreciate raw riffs, rough soul and deep roots. Matthew Rogers
on drums and guitar (the “axe”) and Shawn Hall on vocals and harmonica (the
mouth “harp”) are behind the gritty sound that’s steeped in the electric groove
blues of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer has
been nominated for multiple Maple Blues Awards and won Blues Act of the
Year at the SiriusXM Indies. The duo has toured the major festival circuit
including SXSW, and Folk Fests, Blues Fests, and Jazz Fests across the country,
impressing crowds with their signature fervor.
Rounding out the night is Ottawa-based band MonkeyJunk with a bluesy blend of swampy roots-rock. Challenge, these guys put on a great show – come out and see some real blues.
Blues & Company is a three-piece blues band from the
Ottawa area. With a set list that mixes driving, and hook oriented original
songs, with old school blues covers, this trio will have you addicted to their
groove from the first note. They are an electric, roots, and contemporary blues
band. They pull from influences like Freddie, B.B., and Albert King, Stevie Ray
Vaughan, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters and so many other legendary artists. This
high-energy trio Combines Hendrix-esqe psychedelic electric blues with Chicago
style roots and will lay down a boogie that is second to none!
This is a fund raiser to help cover their expenses for
