birth of the Ottawa-based band MonkeyJunk came along just when music fans
needed them the most. They brought an accessible and refreshing blend of
swamp-rock roots and blues to the table and haven’t looked back. In the
relatively short time they’ve been performing and recording together, the
members of MonkeyJunk have won a collective 20 Maple Blues Awards, two Canadian
Independent Music Awards, a Blues Music Award (USA), and have been nominated
twice for a JUNO Award, taking home the coveted hardware in 2012. As one of Canada’s heaviest bands since Big Sugar, their
music is passionate and edgy with unfettered delivery.

Spielgel has certainly squeezed more into 35 years than many do in a lifetime.
It’s that unique experience combined with a relentless touring schedule and

in Australian blues and one of the most respected guitarists in the country.
Two house concerts are planned
with Australian Blues Guitarist Lloyd Spiegel. Lloyd has been compared to Matt
Andersen and J.P. Cormier. This will be his first tour in Canada. He will play

The Nate Crockett Band was the
talk of the Homegrown Live Festival as they had everyone at the RCHA Club Blues
Venue talking about their foot stomping, high energy, original and awesome
performance.
They
are a newly formed band with members from Dr.Jones and Tea for the Voyage.
The group is a solid sound of foot–stomping whiskey blues, mixed with country
tones and bluegrass twang. Using a vast array of instruments, including
the banjo, mandolin, glockenspiel, clarinet, and bari sax, the musical genre is
hard to categorize. With a break-neck rhythm section to hold the pocket and
playing mostly original music, this band has a very strong stage
performance. Live or recorded, the band is tight, yet unpredictable.
Listening to a live performance gives you the sensation of balancing on the
edge of a cliff with the band right there with you. With a dynamic feel,
gritty and truthful down-and-out lyrics, the Nate Crockett Band has a sound
that is unique, relatable and energizing all at the same time.
