Jonas
& The Massive Attraction took Parliament Hill by storm on July 1st
as part of ‘Canada Day In The Capital’, bringing some edge to the nation’s big
party. The sun came bursting through the clouds as the band took the stage for
the noon show to perform their hit single, ‘Respire/Breathing’, broadcast from
coast to coast on CBC television. For the evening show, the band turned up the
heat a few notches and rocked the hill, much to the excitement of over 50,000

Like a beat up old Dodge burning down the highway with
a brand new set of rims and a candy metallic paint job, Soulstack carves out
their modern roots music in nouveau-retro-style, inspired by sweaty sounds and
throbbing rhythms, all performed with deep intensity, wild conviction, greasy

the very first edition of Virée Blues Boréale in 2005 with The Ramblers, Steve Rowe
has been a favourite of Virée Blues Boréale’s audiences on each of his
appearances, because of the acuteness of his compositions where original Blues
blends with today’s ‘Power Blues’; some true Blues with a foot on the
international threshold. A sixth album, a career of more than thirty years, at
60, this prolific singer-songwriter is offering us a gift with the launch of an
anthology opus, “The Urban Bluesman”. And to further enhance this event, a
most famous guest, the ‘enfant terrible’ of the Blues, a full-blast showman, a
true long-time friend, the great Jim
Zeller, our Jimmy Hendrix of the harmonica. He appears on the album
and will join Steve on stage. Virée Blues Boréale presents the

The swing in the era of modern
music or when the violin and the accordion swing with a
human beat-box and keyboards.
Viviane
Arnoux and François Michaud have happily collaborated since
1992. Their
meeting created the need to come
up with an original music project that transcended
the traditional roles of
accordion, violin (or viola) and voice. François Michaud, (violin,
viola) left Québec very young; he
dragged his violin through various continents and
music conservatories, grabbed a
viola along the way, africanized his classical sound
and jazzified his folk music. He
is one of the two founding members of MAM. He directs
the Loué music school, where he
also teaches. He gives workshops for children and
master classes. He has produced 9
CDs as main artist and many more as collaborator.
Viviane
Arnoux, (accordion, voice) started
playing accordion at 4 years old. She is the
other founding member of MAM. She
was accordionist for Hughes Aufray. She teaches
accordion at the Hohner school
and also gives workshops for children and master
classes. She composes songs and
music for shorts films and collaborates on many
international artists' CDs.
This new piece “Human Swing Box”
is the result of much reflection and research on
sounds, caused by the need to
participate in the evolution of our culture, ever changing.
Since 2007 and the album Meddled
Times MAM has been working on the concept of
time and its influence on
artists, catalysts of the emotions and sensations that their era
induces. New Time came out in
2011, as a logical sequence, with Norbert Lucarain,
who plays the repertoire on
stage, as a human beat-box and on the keyboards, in a
bright and unrestrained manner.
“Human Swing Box” arises from the extension of this
collaboration, while finally
being able to record an album with him, as a necessity when

intention to start up a “little, fuzzy, psychedelic blues band” and since then
Bill and his co-writer Joe DeAngelis have produced four full length CDs, the
latest of which “Hard and Heavy” was released in 2013. He tours extensively in
Canada and internationally.
