Distillery are a very charming blues trio that can appear to be deceptively
mellow at times. Please don't relax too much as these three Toronto musicians
bring out the sabre tooth tiger when you least expect it.
The
Distillery began as a brainchild of Jordan Safer and Neil Hendry during a few
discussions over beer and tea. Myrrhine “Wees” Faller joined soon after.
Together they play a mixture of splendid original blues tunes and various classics
old and new.
As
the band takes their cues from Buddy Guy, Etta James and Koko Taylor (among
many others) they attempt to respectfully flourish under these influences. If
you catch them playing at a venue near you then you’ll simply leave twice the person
you were before you came in. Their new EP is entitled “What
You Told Me” and it is a very thick and useful
brand of music.

Ottawa’s JW-Jones, a
high-energy young blues artist will be bringing his original brand of blues to
the Rainbow Bistro in Ottawa as part of his extensive Canadian tour to
celebrate the release of his 8th CD, “Belmont Boulevard” and recent signing to acclaimed American
roots music label Blind Pig Records.
A hard-working and talented
young artist, Jones is a Maple Blues Award winner, and was recently honoured by
the Ottawa Business Journal and Ottawa Chamber of Commerce by being named one
of the “Forty Under 40,” a salute to the region’s talented entrepreneurs who
balance business achievement, professional expertise and community involvement.
For the songs on “Belmont Boulevard”, Jones decided for
the first time to delve deep into his personal life and tell some of his
stories that he’d never revealed before. He co-wrote many of the songs with Grammy-winner
Tom Hambridge, a noted songwriter whose tunes have been recorded by Lynyrd
Skynyrd, Rascal Flatts, and Delbert McClinton. “Digging deep into some very
serious personal stories from my past and turning them into songs has been
liberating and part of the healing process. I hope these songs resonate with
listeners that have been through similar experiences,” said Jones.
Known for his high-energy,
crowd-pleasing shows, Jones recently opened tours for the late Johnny Winter
and one of his strongest influences, Jimmie Vaughan (about whom JW penned a
song on the new album). Now, with his latest recording, he’s excited about
reaching an even wider audience. Jones’ band features Jamie Holmes on
drums and the heavy grooves of Laura Greenberg on bass, who consistently add a
powerful energy to the stage.

Bill Durst is a Canadian Blues- Rock- Roots
guitarist, singer, songwriter, entertainer who has written and recorded over
115 songs on 11 albums with 7 national radio chart hits. As a kid growing
up in Wingham and then London, Ontario (which is halfway between Toronto and
Detroit), Bill was heavily influenced by Motown R&B and Toronto Psychedelic
Soul music as well as the British Blues Invasion and Jimi Hendrix. Bill’s
entrance on the national/international stage was with his classic rock band
Thundermug formed from London R&B groups in 1969. By the summer of 1972 the
band had a number one hit and a fan following in Eastern Canada. The band went
on to record a total of 5 albums, (3 albums in the early/mid 1970s and two CDs
in the mid 1990s) releasing records in the US and Europe. Bill put out his
first two solo releases in the mid eighties but it wasn’t until the early 2000s
that Durst got some real career momentum.
In 2004 he proclaimed his intention to start up a
“little, fuzzy, psychedelic blues band” and since then Bill and his co-writer
Joe DeAngelis have produced 4 full length CDs.

If you already have a copy of my CD, then I'd like to buy you a drink (from the $100.00 bar tab offered by the club).
We will start at 8 pm sharp and play two sets of originals and blues standards done in our style....
I'd like to see my friends new and old. I don't get much of a chance to see you guys, so this could be a great night. We can stay and have a bit of an after party. Socializing in real time!

Son of the late actors,
Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Guy is a musician, composer, actor, director, and
writer … but, most importantly, a bluesman. The blues permeates every corner
of Davis' creativity. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to
reviving the traditions of acoustic blues and bringing them to as many ears as
possible through the material of the great blues masters, African American stories,
and his own original songs, stories and performance pieces.
His influences are
varied: Musically, he enjoyed such great blues musicians as Mississippi John
Hurt and Buddy Guy. It was through Taj Mahal that he found his way to the old
time blues. He also loved such diverse musicians as Fats Waller and Harry
Belafonte.
Early acting roles
included a lead role in the film "Beat Street" opposite Rae
Dawn Chong and on television as ‘Dr. Josh Hall’ on "One Life to
Live". He made his Broadway musical debut in 1991 in the Zora Neale
Hurston/Langston Hughes collaboration "Mulebone",which
featured the music of Taj Mahal. In 1993 he performed Off-Broadway as legendary
blues player Robert Johnson in "Robert Johnson: Trick the Devil".
He received rave reviews and became the 1993 winner of the Blues Foundation's
"Keeping the Blues Alive Award”. More recently, Guy featured on Broadway
in Million Dollar Quartet and a revival of Finian's Rainbow.

The
Queen of Disco, Patsy Gallant will present beautiful standard blues and
original compositions, accompanied by pianist Éric Sauvé. The show is in
English and French.
One of 10 children, Patsy Gallant,
born in New-Brunswick, started singing at the age of 5 with her sisters and
their band, The Gallant Sisters. Her solo career took off in 1970 when she
signed a contract with Columbia Records, releasing albums in both French and
English. A tiny, vivacious performer with a strong voice, Gallant became one of
the few Canadian artists to become a star during the disco era. After hosting a
TV show for two seasons and doing more recordings, she re-emerged in musical
theatre in 1988, performing in many productions. In 1997, she played Stella
Spotlight in Starmania
for eight years. In 2005, after
returning from her long run in Starmania,
she released a career retrospective, Tout va trop vite, which included early recordings and a remake of “Sugar

Williams is a
blues-based singer / songwriter / multi – instrumentalist. He is a 40 year
veteran of the ‘Roots’ music scene in North America, roots which stretch back
to the coffee-house scene of his native California in the mid 60′s.
Settling
in Canada in 1970, Tim is a studio musician, producer, and a performer in
constant demand. He has played Folk / Blues / Jazz festivals and concert halls
and clubs from Halifax, to Vancouver Island, to the Yukon.
Inspired
by the Hillbilly and Western Swing music he heard as a child, Tim absorbed late
Fifties Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll, Hawaiian and Mexican music,
early Sixties Folk, and Bluegrass “like a sponge” before discovering a passion
for traditional blues styles which was fueled by seeing many first generation
blues musicians live during the “Blues Boom” of the mid and late Sixties.”

Montreal, around 1998, with just a guitar and a stomp board. Since then, he has
had over 30 releases throughout Europe, USA and Canada – and still tours all
these places frequently. He was banned from entering the States for 5 years
(2006-2011) and made his first “(wel)comeback” show in USA at the Norton
Records 25th Anniversary Weekend, performing alongside such legendary (and
killer!) acts such as Andre Williams, The Sonics, 5678′s, Mighty Hannibal and The South Bay Surfers.
Since 2003 his hair has been slicked with his own brand of grease, “Nice ‘n’
Greasy”, and he plays his guitar through his custom made
one-of-a-kind Richtone Amp.
Usually travels alone as a one man band and absolutely wows the crowds
everywhere he plays!

Rideau - the famous Dinner & Show Fundraiser Series featuring some of
Canada's best Blues artists which takes place once a month every year from
October through May (excluding December) at The Cove Country Inn & Spa in
Westport, Ontario – has announced the
2014/15 Line-Up.
Despite cost
increases, the price for these nights remains at $60 per person this year (the

different local Westport charities. The Series has raised over $50,000 for the

Deslauriers has long been a fixture in the Ottawa music scene, both as a side
and front man of various genres of bands. Although his skill set and talent
have extraordinary range, his passion is the blues—and it shows. He is renowned
for the fire and honesty that he expresses with his voice and a guitar, as well
as his technical skill and the unique ways in which his extensive musical
knowledge seeps into the blues. In both his original music and his
interpretations of classics, he draws on diverse influences such as country,
jazz, roots, and rock. A versatile and creative guitarist, Deslauriers
frequently combines playing styles not always found in the blues, creating new
and exciting interpretations.
Deslauriers, bass player Cory
Shvets, and drummer Ken Reynolds frequently play in and around Ottawa, and are
regularly invited to play in Kingston. The trio was a finalist in the 2013
Ottawa Blues Society Road to Memphis band competition. Prior to that,
Deslauriers traded electric for acoustic and earned himself a berth in the
finals for the 2011 Ottawa Blues Society Road to Memphis solo/duo competition. In
April 2014, Deslauriers released “City Fever”, an exciting new blues CD that
showcases ten of his many original blues songs.
Although a trio, the Dan
Deslauriers band’s sound fills the room like a six-piece band, and they get the
audience dancing and cheering. Come out to a Dan Deslauriers show and
experience a group of seasoned musicians not just performing, but evolving the
blues!

In 2010, Toronto-based blues guitarist, singer
and songwriter Chris Antonik arrived onto the National and International blues
scene with his self-titled debut album which received widespread critical
acclaim, placed in the Roots Music Report Top 100 charts for over a year, and
garnered Antonik a nomination for Best New Artist of the Year at Canada’s
national Maple Blues Awards. In 2010, in its year-end review, British
Columbia’s Blues Underground Network deemed Chris ‘The Future of the

Canada in 2011 and 2012, Chris returned with his highly anticipated and

assuming such a diminutive lass would struggle in the hardscrabble music
business, but her charm talent and tenacity is as infectious as the grooves and
rhythms that make those finely crafted lyrics come to life with so much
