The Raffle raised $500 to support the Blues Foundation’s HART fund.

Canada's Juke Joint Kings - The Myers Brothers Band, have started 2012 with the release of their brand new album “DRIVE”, the follow-up CD to 2005's “Straight From The Woods”. The 15-track CD features all-original juke joint & boogie blues, and was recorded and mixed locally in Ottawa and the backwoods of Western Quebec. The brothers (Mike and Stevie) are also featured in the Feb/Mar '12 issue of Blues Matters, where they discuss their Ottawa blues beginnings, the recording of “DRIVE”, their Clarksdale connection, and upcoming spring and summer tours in Mississippi and the United Kingdom in support of the new album. Martha Reeves, of Martha and the Vandellas (‘Dancing in the Streets’, ‘Heatwave’) is visiting Holy Trinity High School from February 14-17 as part of a band exchange with the R&B band from Victoria High School B.C. You may have seen a documentary on the Victoria band on Bravo. This doc is about their trip to Motown where they met Martha. They then backed her up at the Victoria Jazz Festival- they are that good!
As part of the visit, Ms. Reeves, the Victoria R&B band and the R&B band from Holy Trinity will be at the Fourth stage of the National Arts Centre on February 15. Proceeds from this show will help support the band at Trinity.
That evening the bands will play and Ms Reeves will be interviewed about her time at Motown. We of course, hope to be able to convince Ms. Reeves to grace us with a few tunes. This performance will be repeated the next day for local schools at Sacred Heart School in Stittsville.

The 15th Edition of Virée Blues Borèale presents the winner of the Memphis International Blues Challenge 2012, in the solo/duo category, on the very first stop of his Canadian Tour.
A self-described ‘Wandering Blues Poet’, Ray Bonneville gets his inspiration from the roads he travelled and the many places he called home: New Orleans, Colorado, Arkansas, Alaska, Boston, Seattle, Paris, Quebec and Hull. A native of the Outaouais, more precisely Hull, this renowned Bluesman, composer and performer plays the guitar and the harmonica and now lives in Austin, TX, where he grew up. An immigrant, this Vietnam War veteran who became taxi driver and bush pilot finally found his way, after 35 years, to become the reputed composer and interpreter that we now know. His half a decade stay in New Orleans had a definite impact on his nature and on his music.
His first opus, “On the Main”, recorded with Stephen Barry, while on a bush pilot trip in Quebec, came out in 1993. But things really got moving six years later: “Gust of Wind” earned him a Juno Award; his next album “Goin' by Feel” received rave reviews from DownBeat and No Depression. Noted for having one of “the sexiest guitar styles around” says Acoustic Guitar, Ray is a unique player and has performed with such Blues luminaries as BB King, Muddy Waters and Robert Cray. A guitar virtuoso, he can move people as well on the harmonica.
