This 'transatlantic' blues & boogie show reunites the Myers Brothers Band and Mark Cole who performed together in 2005 at the Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale Mississippi. Schooled in Mississippi deep blues, The Myers Brothers play a raw, energetic, hard-edged electric, juke joint and rocking boogie styled blues, and Mark Cole is one of Britain's most in-demand blues harp players. Way back about 15-16 years ago an idea was born out of the mind of a then-young man to play some music within the Capitals bustling blues scene. For the first show, in May 1995, the band was billed as Rocket Rached & the Fat City 4… that number was never used again! Over the years, there have been as many as 16 band members on stage. Since the first gig, the band has always been known as The Fat City 8, but the actual number of musicians varies.
The time has come to capture the high energy show. And bring your dancing shoes, we gonna have a party!

Terry Gillespie’s “Big Money” CD Release

Big Money consists of ten original tunes and ‘Scared’, which was composed by Peter Karp & Sue Foley, who accompany him on this lovely interpretation of their song. Bonus live track ‘You don’t Love Me” by Willie Hobbs, features the guitar work of Vince Halfhide. Three of the tunes: ‘Soul on Fire’, ‘Blood on You’ and ‘Jones’ are contemporary protest songs. The title song, ‘Big Money’, is a light hearted spoof at the music industry. Infectious grooves are in Terry’s DNA, ergo, “Big Money” is a groovy CD!
Fourteen musicians joined in the making of “Big Money”, another international stew of musicians that Terry is so famous for putting together. (Biographies of the players are on Terry’s website.)
The cigar you see Terry smoking in the artwork is handmade from tobacco he grew at home, cured and rolled especially for the cover shot – all organic, all homegrown.
Playing with Terry at the Blacksheep will be: The Mighty Popo on guitar, shaker; Terry Owen on sax; Peter Measroch on keys; Vitas on bass and Mr Wayne Stoute on drums!

You will learn vocal techniques for breath support, phrasing, flexibility, range, judicious use of vibrato, diction, how to “belt” responsibly, lyric interpretation. You will explore the art of backing vocals and all participants will be singing lead and back-up. You will have the opportunity to perform with a band and participate in the Alcorn Music Studios afternoon Coffee House, November 28 at Tucson's.

Her music takes inspiration from the country-blues of the 1920s and 30s, but she definitely brings a contemporary "prairie" sensibility to the table.
